Meredith R. Shamas, NP-C

As a Cardiology nurse practitioner at Heart & Vascular Associates, Meredith Shamas brings empathy, a down-to-earth communication style, and a sense of humor to her work, making it easy for her to talk to patients and family members.

A typical day for Meredith includes assessing, diagnosing, and implementing plans of care. Most importantly, Meredith understands that listening to patients, sharing their concerns, and educating them about their treatment plans is a critical part of patient care.

Meredith began her nursing career at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio where she worked as a telemetry RN. After relocating to Sierra Vista, AZ, Meredith worked at CVMC hospital where she served as a PCU nurse and then transitioned to the Emergency Room. During the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic, Meredith continued her work as a member of the Emergency Room team helping to ensure that the most critically ill patients received the most immediate treatment.

Meredith is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Prior to this, she received her Bachelor of Arts/Science Degree in Biology from Eckerd College, St. Petersburg, FL, and her Associate’s Degree in Forensic Technology from St. Petersburg College all while working in the Emergency Room at Largo Medical Center. Meredith obtained her Nursing Degree from Miami of Ohio, followed by her Master of Science Degree from Grand Canyon University, graduating with Honors.
